A film that spotlighted Tom Hardy as the Kray Twins. A
gangster movie that took place in London in the 60’s. So the poster looked
good, the trailer looked good, is the movie good too?
The answer is… YES and also NO.
Tom Hardy was the most powerful foundation in the movie. The
second is the cinematography. The story… nahhh – I hate its inaccuracy. Only
checking in wikipedia, we already see the difference between the film and the
real twins. Much of the difference is the family itself. The Kray twins had an
older siblings – a brother – which the film didn’t mention. Their brother
worked with them very close. Another one that I hate, it didn’t give me a
proper epilogue. Also the tempo felt fast, because of the story time.
I hate how the movie was treated as a B movie. It should be
an A movie. It lacked of marketing strategies.
As for the acting, Tom Hardy really dominated the film. Some
people even said that he was “Bane without his mask on.” I truly agree with
this statement. Tom Hardy knew the character as in the script. But AGAIN not
the real twins.
The film is good to look at because of the veteran
cinematogrpaher, Dick Pope. We get the sense of a classic but elite side of
London. Why? Because the cinematographer lived there.
The Verdict:
Tom Hardy’s good, no, great! The rest just felt…. Ok.. I
guess.
